Canal+ Afrique has secured French-language broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League in sub-Saharan Africa. The pay-TV broadcaster will air live Champions League games every match day in high definition, on its family of TV networks. Preview shows, match analysis and extensive highlights may also be included in Canal+ Afrique’s comprehensive coverage.
Pay-TV broadcaster Canal Plus Afrique has agreed a multi-year deal for French-language rights of the Ligue 1 in sub-Saharan Africa. The rights will enable the satellite TV operator to show multiple matches live every week on its family of high definition sports networks until 2024. Coverage will also include full match replays, extensive highlights, as well as magazine shows and news programs. Every Ligue 1 match aired on TV will be streamed live on the broadcaster’s subscription-based over-the-top (OTT) platform myCanal. The French Ligue 1 on Canal+ Afrique is expected to be available in over 20 African countries, including the following: Burkina Faso, Burundi, Benin, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, RDC, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Togo.
Canal+ Afrique has acquired exclusive French-language Serie A rights in Sub-Saharan Africa. The pay-TV broadcaster will air live Italian Serie A matches on weekends on its family of sports TV networks. Coverage will include full replays as well. Live Serie A streaming will be available on myCANAL – the OTT service for Canal+ subscribers online and on Android and iOS mobile devices.
Pay-TV operator Canal+ has secured French-language multi-platform broadcast rights for the Spanish La Liga in sub-Saharan Africa. Live matches will be accompanied by match previews, highlights and original programming. Full game replays may also be available to watch on Canal+ Africa's family of sports channels. All La Liga games aired live on TV will be offered to subscribers as streams on digital platform myCANAL, which runs online on computers, tablets and smartphones. Telecasts for every game will be provided in high definition.
