SKY has acquired broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League in Italy. The pay-TV broadcaster will distribute coverage of Europe’s largest soccer club competition on its family of premium networks. Live streams of the games may also be available on SKY’s over-the-top (OTT) platform, Sky Go, and its official apps for subscribers on Android and iOS mobile devices. In addition to live telecasts and online streams, full match replays may be aired on TV and made available on demand on the broadcaster’s video streaming service. Highlights and magazine shows may be shared as well across the TV operator’s digital assets. Subscribers of Now TV, an internet TV and video-on-demand (VOD) service provider managed by SKY, are also expected to inherit all the Champions League action in Italy.
Sky Italia has retained its multi-platform Premier League rights in Italy and will broadcast at least 6 live EPL matches in HD every weekend. The pay-TV broadcaster is expected to air over 235 matches every season on TV, with live streams available on its digital platform Sky Go for smartphones, tablets and computers.
Sky Italia has acquired German Bundesliga rights in Italy, in a deal that will see it telecast matches on its high definition TV networks, and also its streaming services Sky Go and Sky Go Plus. Sky Italia's sport package is expected to feature over 100 Bundesliga matches, with at least 3 matches per round.
Sky Italia has renewed its Serie A TV rights deal in Italy until the end of the 2020/21 season. Sky’s broadcast rights acquisition includes Package 5, which grants them access to 114 matches or three games every weekend for 38 rounds – including Sunday evening encounters. Sky also went for Package 6, which includes a total of 152 matches, including Monday evening games. In all, Sky has secured 226 games for its platform every season. Coverage will be carried out live on TV on Sky Supercalcio and Sky Calcio channels, as well as the pay-TV broadcaster’s over-the-top (OTT) service known as Sky Go. The matches will also be aired as full replays on TV on the network’s family of channels, and on demand online and via its streaming mobile app.
