Telefonica has acquired the broadcast rights for the German Bundesliga in Spain. The telecoms operator will carry live HD coverage of the matches on its pay television service, Movistar+. Subscribers may gain access to live online streams for the games on the Movistar+ app.
Telefonica has extended its broadcasting rights into Spain's 2nd division for an aditional three years going into the 2021-22 season. The package includes the six playoff matches for promotion to Spain's First Division, as well as the non-exclusive highlights package for all 2nd Division matches.
Spanish telecoms company Telefónica has acquired the rights to the French Ligue 1 in Spain and will provide coverage of top tier French football through its over-the-top (OTT) platform Movistar+. The video streaming service, which supports multiple types of devices, will stream exclusive Ligue 1 matches throughout the season.
In the middle of the 2018/19 season, Telefonica took over Italian Serie A broadcast rights in Spain from previous holders beIN Sports and Gol. Telefonica’s over-the-top (OTT) platform Movistar+ will therefore air select matches from every round, for the remainder of the deal’s period. Movistar+ Lite, the other OTT service launched by Telefonica in mid-2019, will also grant its subscribers access to live Serie A games as a low-fee offer.
